“Impressions”

Beth Hammond & Belle Stanley

The works in this exhibition have evolved by convergence of two themes, memory and colour combinations, and then applying these to abstract and abstracted works.

The works have varied inspirations. It could be a landscape sketch in paint or pencil, or the memory of being in the bush on a particular day or a road trip through the Australian landscape.

Other paintings have a starting point of certain colour combinations and then seeing where the painting goes from there.

I have experimented with different sized surfaces as well as the type of surface, such as acrylic perspex, canvas and board.

The whole process has been immensely enjoyable, exciting and fulfilling. You begin a painting but you never know what the end result will be! I hope you enjoy the exhibition.

SALT Festival Exhibition

Belle’s creative process is inspired by her deep love of wandering around in nature, from the remote endless beaches around the EP to following kangaroo trails through the scrub, this is the beginning of the process for all her work. Belle’s work explores the different shapes and textures she finds in nature, and drawing from her knowledge of silversmithing techniques, she captures the essence and beauty of the EP in her work.
