Biography

Donna Legovini was born in Port Pirie in 1961 and has spent the majority of her life living and working in various locations on the Eyre Peninsula. She has lived in Streaky Bay for 12 years where she currently resides.

Her work is strongly inspired by connections to both the natural and domestic environment. Whilst objects, landscapes, flora and fauna are frequently used as references, the final images are combined into imaginative arrangements, often with strong narrative elements. Painting is her preferred medium but she also practices printmaking.

Donna has spent most of her working life teaching art, but is recently retired allowing more time to be spent in the studio. Art has always been an important aspect of her life, most likely fostered by her father who was also an art teacher.

Donna has exhibited widely within South Australia and had several solo exhibitions as well as involvement in several community arts projects within Streaky Bay. "Entwined" is her largest body of work to date.
