ABOUT THE ART PRIZE

The Bendigo Community Bank Port Lincoln Art Prize exhibition is an annual event open to all Australian residents.  The Port Lincoln Art Prize provides a prestigious competition for the many artists who enter and the opportunity to have their efforts publicly acknowledged with the chance to win cash prizes.

The annual Port Lincoln Art Prize commenced in 2008 and has grown and developed into a significant award and exhibition for the region attracting artwork from Australia wide.

Entries are invited from local, South Australian and interstate artists, working in any 2D and 3D mediums other than photography.

MEET THE JUDGE

Leah Grace was born and grew up mainly in Adelaide. She has lived and worked on the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula since late 1989, now based in the river port town of Goolwa on Ngarrinjeri/Raminjeri Country.
Leah has worked in Arts and Cultural Development within local government since 2004, firstly with the City of Onkaparinga, then joining Alexandrina Council in 2007, firstly part time as the co-ordinator of the South Coast Regional Art Centre. In 2010, she took on the broader cultural development role to become Arts and Cultural Development Officer for the Alexandrina Council region.
Duties within this role include facilitation of council’s public art projects, community art and management of both South Coast Regional Art Centre and the development and management of Signal Point Art Gallery. More recently, Leah won funding from Country Arts SA to develop a youth theatre program and works with industry professionals to facilitate a group that has membership of young people from towns across the district.
Leah maintains a personal visual art practise having studied at the South Australian School of Art in the 1980s.
