If you’re a fan of fabulous jazz tunes delivered with pizzazz and punch, then do we have a show for you!
The much-loved jazz trumpeter James Morrison is hitting the road for a “intimate, bespoke concert tour” of regional South Australia. Performing for one show only, this intimate concert is an exceptional opportunity to experience one of Australia’s most talented and versatile jazz musicians.
Renowned globally as one of the finest jazz players of his generation, James Morrison is not only a trumpet virtuoso, but the complete showman. A master of the trumpet, piano, brass, sax and double bass, ARIA award-winner James Morrison is known throughout the world for his virtuoso talent as a jazz musician and sheer brilliance as an all-round entertainer.
James started playing professionally at age 13 and has a stellar professional career behind him: he has performed alongside the best jazz musicians of our generation and has had the privilege of performing for the President and First Lady of the United States.
A best-selling recording artist, he has toured the world and performed with some of the biggest legends in jazz, including Dizzy Gillespie (who called him “one of the best”), Ray Brown, Dave Brubeck, Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, and Wynton Marsalis. He has played everywhere from New York’s famous Village Vanguard and The Blue Note to Europe’s prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival.
Known for his sheer brilliance as a jazz musician, educator and all-round entertainer, James is also the founder of the James Morrison Academy of Music in Mount Gambier, he is constantly on the move, performing wherever fine music has an audience.
Ray Brown called him ’The Genius’ but Wynton Marsalis said it best: “Man, James Morrison can play!”
When asked about his extraordinary career, James declared, ‘This is just the warm-up!’.
